Step 1: Create your Google Ads account
The first thing you have to do is obviously create your Google Ads account before you do any sort of promotions.
So head over to ads.google.com and create an account if you haven’t already.
I suggest using or creating a Gmail email so it’s easier to integrate your accounts together later on.
Once you do that, let’s head over to the next step in this ClickBank and Google Display Ads tutorial.
Step 2: Select your ClickBank offer
If you don’t have a ClickBank account yet, you can sign up for one here:
? clickbank.com
I’m assuming most of you already have an account, so go into the Marketplace and select a product.
The first thing you should do when selecting a product is read the affiliate terms and conditions – make sure you are allowed to promote on Google and what the requirements are for the landing page.
Next, we have to create our landing page because you are not going to have luck direct-linking ClickBank products on Google, and it can be pretty risky to do so.
Step 3: Create a landing/thank you page
I have been using Unbounce to build out my landing pages for the past 1-2 years and love the freedom they offer in building out pages.
You would simply create a new page based off of existing templates, and just fill in the blanks.
Change the headline, add the images, add the sign in form and so on.
You also have to create a thank you page so that you can take people from this offer to the ClickBank offer when promoting via Google display ads.
And the thank you page allows you to explain to people what they can expect and give them the chance to go to the next step.
Step 4: Set up a custom domain
You have to set up a custom domain so that you can promote on Google without any risks. If you use the standalone “unbouncepages.com” domain, someone else might have used it already with a scammy product, and your account can get promptly shut down.
So it’s a good practice to build out your own custom domains. Simply head over into the DNS settings of your domain registrar (I use Namecheap) and add the string of characters provided for the CNAME record.
I suggest using Namecheap for your domain, which you can sign up for via my affiliate link:
Step 5: Set up conversion tracking
You absolutely must set up conversion tracking if you are doing any sort of marketing so that you know what works and what doesn’t.
I have been using ClickMagick for the past 4 years and haven’t been disappointed.
So what you have to do here is create your ClickMagick campaign and then set up sales conversion tracking.
Thats the link you would then be using to promote your ClickBank product with Google display ads.
Step 6: Set up your autoresponder
On your landing page, you give people the opportunity to enter their name and email and be added to your mailing list.
So an autoresponder will send out the actual email sequence to people that sign up and give them the opportunity to click to the affiliate offer as well.
I have been using GetResponse for this purpose also for the past 4 years and haven’t come across any issues.
You can get your own 30-day trial with my affiliate link here:
Step 7: Create your Google Ads display ad
Lastly, you have to create the actual Google Ads display ad.
Head over to your Google Ads account, click on “Create New Campaign” and choose “display” as the network.
Simply fill in the blanks and select from the thousands of possible targeting options to select your audience – this is where you’ll have to test and experiment what works and what doesn’t.
And that’s how you promote ClickBank offers with Google Display Ads!
